Dust in the wind (Signature song)

Ajak suggested that this is to be our signature song. It was composed way back in the late 70's when we were in koleq. I agreed even more as our name is with "sonata".

This song could be our opening song each time with all of us on guitar (even electric guitars on acoustic sound) singing harmony. DITW must be memorized and can be sung even with our eyes closed.

Who's in the band ?

The band yet to be officially named (serpentsonata most likely with the consent of all involved) will comprised of the followings:

All members can interchange musical instrument they play thou the regulars or priority will be as follows :

AjakC : guitar

Kunte: keyboard

Azhe : drums

Julod : bass

Songs can even be accompanied on drum machine or self program bass line if the songs are complicated and need more members which we dont have.

All are on vocals with each songs with main vocal and the rest on backing vocals.

Whats in the name

Kunte thought of the name WMR where WM you know what and R can mean many things (mostly negatives) like reject, rival, revenge, rebutt, revival etc

But then again "serpent" must be somewhere in the name to denote who we are. So something like "Serpenttune" or even "Serpenttheme"did cross his mind.

Then a long yet aspiring sms was received from Ajak read as below:

"Salam Bro,
I suggest SERPENTSONATA . Nama belia sikit, yet direct & effective. It means the music of the Serpents, BY the Serpents & for the Serpents... just as we aspires... our group's mission &
vision, & of course our reason d' at. From the F&W dictionary, sonata is define as Music; a
composition for 1,2,3 or more instruments. [sonare to sound] Amacam hang setuju tak ?"

My wife commented the sound not bruttal enough. So does the name of another band like Gun's and Roses. But come to think of it, Serpent is a brutal animal and Sonata is the softer part of the name. It will depict the music we play like those music of the medeival times something like Gates of Babylon !

Brilliant name, really. The name will actually decide the package of our presentation which we will be discussing later.

The First Jamm

What surprise and commitment to see Ajak at the Shell station all dressed in black (with black jacket) on his 250 vespa like all the way from Putrajaya dead on time ready to jamm the first time at IA's office near The Mines. Not only that, he brought his guitar along on his back.
It was a Sunday.

- everlasting brotherhood of 4 guys from form5 way back in 1978 in mckk

- we dont belong to the form 5 band in 1978 and now called WM

- dont rely on outside musician

- we do the music we like, improvise them if we want and drop them if we cant.

- not the "lead" band of our clan but yet being the better one.

3. Our decisions and directions are base on total members consensus

Why, why and why ?

Why form the band ?
There are lots of talent and passion among us to make another band yet pure. Let us show that there is enough of us to form a respected 4 piece band.
And if the question is why not coming for jammings with the much older and established band, look within ourselves to find out what is the problem. The music ? The direction ? The management ? The domination ? etc I am sure these are probable causes.

So the decision to form this band is eminent, insyaallah.
